Departmental Honors

To earn Departmental Honors, CS majors need senior status, an overall G.P.A. of 3.3, and a Global G.P.A. of 3.5, plus completion of a research project.

Enrollment in three consecutive courses is required:

Fall Quarter        CS 198A
Winter Quarter    CS 198B
Spring Quarter    CS 198C
 
CS 198A meets once weekly and/or individual weekly meetings are held with each student. C.S. 150 (Research Methodologies in Communication) is its prerequisite. This senior honors seminar provides a more rigorous study of research methodology and gives each participant individual guidance in their formulation of a specific research project. For the Winter Quarter, students need to create an individual contract through myUCLA web page for CS 198B and begin work on their honors project. In the Spring Quarter, they will create another individual contract through myUCLA web page for CS 198C and complete their research paper.
